AUSTIN, Texas—The University of Texas at Austin is included as one of 21 “best buys” among public colleges and universities in the 2003 “Fiske Guide to Colleges.”
The guide coupled the quality of an institution’s academic offerings with the cost of attendance to compile its list of best buys among public and private colleges and universities. Twenty-two private institutions were included on the list.
The University of Texas at Austin has more than 65 academic programs and specialties ranked among the nation’s best. Cost of attendance, including tuition and fees, books, room and board (on campus), transportation and miscellaneous expenses is $15,920 for a Texas resident and $22,026 for a non-resident.
The “Fiske Guide to Colleges,” now in its 19th edition, is written by Edward B. Fiske, former education editor of The New York Times.
Other public universities included among “best buys” are the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Minnesota, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Virginia and the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
